HR Manager, Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA)

As the first HR manager for the Canadian Internet Registration Authority, Heidi Hauver has been a change agent and builder for the organization while it’s undergone a significant cultural transformation. She volunteers on many boards including Make A Wish of Eastern Ontario and HRPA Ottawa, and currently serves as chair for the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre.

Since joining Pitney Bowes Canada in 2007, Guilherme Dias has transformed the company’s employer brand by engaging internal stakeholders and external partners such as industry councils, associations and business schools. His diversity work has earned the firm the International Innovation Award for Excellence in Diversity by Diversity Journal.

Over the past two years Sandra Cain has made a huge impact in building the credibility of Pitney Bowes Canada’s HR Shared Services team. Her work has resulted in effective governance of HR policies, procedures and systems to provide seamless services to employees and managers. She also designed 15 workshops to train managers on the company’s HR transformation initiative.

Andrew Miller is in charge of talent management for Sysco Foodservices of Canada. Andrew developed a leadership development program for Sysco’s Canadian operations that has directly impacted the organization’s profitability. Under the leadership of its new home-grown executive team, Sysco Canada has ranked first in performance since 2008.

Sandi Channing
Director, Total Rewards, Compass Group Canada

As Compass Group Canada’s director of total rewards, Sandi Channing developed and implemented a Total Rewards strategy affecting 18,000 employees. The strategy has resulted in high employee satisfaction levels evidenced by high engagement and benefits survey scores. Channing’s work has helped Compass Canada earn MacLean’s Top 100 Employers in Canada award for the past two years.

Dr. Deborah Zinni is a professor and chair of Organizational Behaviour, Human Resources, Entrepreneurship and Ethics at Brock University. She helped develop Brock’s new Masters of Science Program for Human Resources/Organizational Behaviour and is a co-author of Managing Human Resources Management. Before entering academics, she worked for over 20 years in senior HR roles.

As Compass Group Canada’s HR chief, Brenda Brown developed new HR programs and services that successfully impacted morale, team work and internal communications for 22,000 associates. Her business-aligning initiatives have included training programs to control overspending and labour costs and a consistent labour relations approach across Canada.
